Afterword: Communicating Fashion During a Pandemic
Join us on Friday 18 June at 20:00 CET for a live discussion with Andrew Groves and Mark Prendergast.
With shops closed and shows cancelled, designers and brands have been experimenting with new and existing methods to get their vision across to the public: from printed matter to virtual shows and videos. What are the challenges and possibilities of communicating fashion during a pandemic?
We’ll be discussing this question and more on Clubhouse with Andrew Groves and Mark Prendergast. Join us for the first edition of our live discussion series Afterword: Communicating Fashion During a Pandemic on Friday 18 June at 20:00 CET.
Andrew Groves is Professor of Fashion Design at the University of Westminster, and the director of the Westminster Menswear Archive. In 2019 he co-curated Invisible Men: An Anthology from the Westminster Menswear Archive, the largest exhibition of menswear to have been staged in the UK. He recently co-curated an online exhibition of face coverings, Undercover – From Necessity to Luxury: The Evolution of Face Coverings During COVID-19.
Mark Prendergast is the co-founder of Formatsandmechanisms. The studio creates concepts and mechanisms for digital fashion presentations. Mark and his partner, Philip Schütte, have previously created concepts for Raf Simons, Maison Margiela, Chloé, and the Royal Academy of Antwerp digital graduation presentation. Their latest work for Duran Lantink explored the possibilities of digital fashion communication while commenting on the relation between humans and technologies.
